About

The Australian Kodály Certificate (AKC) is the only Australian fully accredited and nationally recognised program of teacher training in the Kodály approach to music education. In 2024, this course will be offered in hybrid form (online and face-to-face) to complete study modules.

The course begins online, with 9 hours of study during Term 3 in weeks 2/4/6/8 and 52 hours of face to face study during term break: Wednesday 2nd Oct-Sat 5th Oct & Tuesday 8th- Friday 11th October.

All components are compulsory if seeking assessment and accreditation but a non-assessment option (audit/ participation) option is available if preferred.

To complete the full level, course participants undertake 60 hours of study:
Musicianship (15hrs), Pedagogy (15hrs), Practicum (5hrs), Cultural Materials (5hrs), Choir (10hrs) and Conducting(10hrs).

Kodály SA is a not-for-profit association which advocates for music education for every child. 

 

We support music education in South Australia by providing access to a high quality music education for every Australian child from pre-school through to secondary school and beyond.

The Kodály approach has been enriched and refined over time by generations of teachers.
